Winter Wonder (Week ending 19.1.24)

This week we have explored winter!

We investigated how to make ice and discovered that you can only make it when it’s very cold! We placed water in different places outside to see what would happen. We also compared putting water in the fridge and the freezer to see where it was colder. The children have loved exploring the ice, feeling how cold it is, and trying to melt it.

We explored making patterns in snowy paint to winter music. We loved getting our hands dirty. We made lines, swirls and zigzags to show how the music made us feel.

We went on a winter walk to see what signs of winter we could find. We found frost, ice, snowdrops and there weren’t any leaves on the trees! We loved seeing the patterns made in the ice and feeling how cold the frost was. We hope to get more snow so we can have more excitement playing in it!

We have practised our drawing by creating pictures of ourselves and our family in our winter clothes! We included hats, coats, boots, scarves and gloves in our pictures. We practised our mark making skills making icy patterns with chalks.

We sang our Rhyme of the week “Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush” and did the actions to the song.

Our new friends have settled in beautifully and we can’t wait to spend more time getting to know everyone 🙂
