Down at the Bottom of the Garden (Week Ending 3.5.24)

This week we have continued learning about the story Jack and the Beanstalk. We have built the Giant’s castle using a range of different blocks.

We are currently having a sunflower race in nursery. We are looking after all the seeds and seeing which ones grow first. We have been checking their progress every day!

We have been inspired by Vincent Van Gogh in our creative area. We have created our sunflower paintings, thinking about which colours we need to use. Next week look out for our textured sunflower paintings as we will be looking at different ways to thicken and apply paint.

For our role play we have created a garden centre. The children wrote the labels and numbers for the role play area. We have been very impressed with their pen control and marks.

We also created our very own seed packets that we can buy in our garden centre! We thought about which plants we might want. We chose lots of flowers and even some vegetables like carrots and beans.

We have loved taking on different roles in the garden centre! We have planted seeds, brought seed packets and been shop keepers.

The children also wanted to paint pictures from our story Jasper’s Beanstalk. We can’t believe how amazing their painting are! The children have worked really hard to include details and have loved sharing their work with their friends.

We have continued to check the progress of our beans! Some of you may have brought them home already. Once they start growing the bean will be sent home for you to plant and look after. Please send us photos of their progress. We would love to see how big they grow!

Thank you for sharing your pictures from home! Its lovely to see you exploring signs of spring! I can’t believe how many Bluebells there are. You have been growing so many different plants! I wonder how tall the sunflowers will grow? I hope you enjoy eating the strawberries and apples once they are ready!

Well done to our 10 book readers this week! I wonder who it will be next week?

And last but not least a little tadpole update! They are still getting bigger but no legs yet!
